11/7 - "Fuck It, We Ball" and Other Such Updates

It’s a new month and the beginning of the rest of our lives, for better and for worse. Forgive me for not exactly being in a chipper mood.

I’m going to cut to the chase and state what my plans are. Updating people about current and future projects and trying to redefine myself to support others going forward.

Archive.org is finally back, but honestly it would be appreciated if you support them directly; a source of information like this impacts many people and preserving history is an important value to uphold in general.

If you’re at all interested in supporting some great art on top of supporting a good cause, GIA LIGAMMARI and a huge group of talented artists made an amazing since called Xx_2000z_1NT3RN3T_xX: A 2000’s Internet Anthology. You can find it on Gumroad here as well as links to donate to the Internet Archive directly.

When this article goes up I’ll be snagging a copy for myself as well as donating to it as well as Wikipedia because information should be free and everyone deserves to be educated.

Progress on my own DBZ Kai retrospective is going well. I’ve kicked myself in the pants and have finally completed everything that was pre-edited. I’ve re-recorded some lines as well, so I apologize for the iffy audio. New videos should be a bit more consistent at least. The hardest part is completing this due to having to talk about my grandma in the past tense, but I need some sort of emotional closure.

I haven’t solidified any plans with people regarding #INDIECember. Please reach out in case you’re interested in talking sometime next month on my podcast.

I’m also going to say going forward, I will try to donate to as many charities as I can with whatever revenue I gain from YouTube. Priority will be given to Palestenians (either individually or to support group initiatives who are helping them, like E-Sims for Gaza), but I will continue to donate to any GFM that I am able to. I am not rich by any means but I think this is the least I could do. If you know anyone who are struggling, especially if they’re PoC, queer/trans, disabled, etc., or groups that help these populations, do your best to support them.

I work in animation and I'm lucky to say that; the industry has not been in a good shape and I feel very strongly about my peers in this space (and very strongly against causes that are against the disabled/immunocomporomised people, queer people, and I honestly just hate everything about generative AI in general). If you want to support the people who help make the media (not content, we're not using that word in 2025) feel free to sign this:

I’m getting a blu ray drive so my inevitable video talking about my feelings on Cowboy Bebop will come once this project is wrapped, as well as a video on Giant Robot Week. Before the election I had a thread going on explaining my phyiscal media collection but I can likely expand that into a bigger video since I have a big point regarding media preservation and the memories these pieces of media can hold; I apologize for anyone who wanted more clips but I really dislike short form media these days anyway. While it lasted, thank you to anyone who liked the post because I rarely get an opportunity to talk about my hobbies to an audience these days.

Come next year I hope to be more consistent with what I produce, even if I can’t make things on a regular basis I want my frequency to increase. You can expect a written tutorial about media servers and ripping blurays eventually, but if you can’t wait I was in a convo on Bluesky with Jeff Harris and Jose Argumedo about this topic if you’re down to read it here.

Jose Argumedo’s an editor at CNN but has done plenty of work with Viz and Discotek as well as being a Toonami Faithful; if there’s anyone I associate with “IGPX” that isn’t a part of the crew of the show itself it’s him. Jeff Harris is also a Toonami Faithful that’s been on this Earth for a bit longer than I have, and his first hand accounts of Toonami’s Giant Robot Week as it aired are proving to be hugely helpful in the script writing phase of my video about it. I greatly respect writing AND having it archived for so long, support them both whenever you can.

GOALS FOR THE FUTURE:

  • More podcasts
  • More editorials / articles / tutorials
  • Actually talking about my original project I’m working on with my partner Jay
  • More videos (smaller and big projects)
  • Learning how to storyboard (this Dynazenon board study WILL get done)
  • Creating business cards
  • Getting back into doing art digitally
    • Eventually, finding a way to do commissions

VIDEO IDEAS:

  • Thoughts on Bebop
  • Giant Robot Week Retrospective
  • Physical Media showcase
  • The Importance of Children’s Edutainment Games

THINGS I’LL GET DONE IN THE SHORT TERM:

  • PostyBirb tutorial
  • A new writeup on using the PSP as a music player
  • Upload my Cowboy Bebop recordings to Archive.org and make a post about them

The biggest goal is to survive the rest of my life. I just need to be blunt about it. I’m not going to sit back about it either, which is why I have a renewed sense of responsibility to help those around me as well as myself. I won’t pretend to have all the answers or even fully comprehend just how bad things will get, but I’ll face it head on with my friends because I’m too stubborn to quit.

Consider this my first step in unlearning shame and baggage from Twitter negativity that’s given me a chip on my shoulder as to how I conduct myself online. Coming from the background of a 2nd rate “cartoon YouTuber”, I felt like I stuck out like a sore thumb compared to people in my field who got here in more traditional methods. In spite of everything I’m still here, and that means I belong. Just need to keep telling myself that. I have many hobbies and can/will exist in many spaces, I know I will do my best to survive no matter what happens.

I think the most dangerous person is a person who is well informed, and if tech literacy is at an all time low, I hope tutorials and articles I write can help people out even a little bit. I admit I eyeroll at being in the homogeneous “Gen Z” group that apparently doesn’t know what a VCR is to outsiders, but instead of getting annoyed at that, I've realized that ever since we shifted from people having early computer access as children to being iPad wizards, children’s understanding of how to use computers depleted because it’s just an environment of advertisements and harmful messages, delivered via a device that CAN be used productively but often is only used as a distraction. I’ll save my soapbox opinions for another day, but I know anyone can be capable of good things, and I’ll be doing my part to make sure that as long as I learn, the people around me learn as well.

I’ve also always felt strong about supporting everyone around me, and I’m going to be louder about that. I’ll never declare that I got here by myself, but I also didn’t want to wait until I was a veteran in this field to acknowledge people who’ve helped me, or people who are special in their own right. I was in my own head due to numerous situations in my personal life for so long I wasn’t able to reach out to more people, and some people I might not get a chance to tell them how much I care about them. I won’t make that mistake again. To friends and peers reading this, just know I love you all.

Stay strong, wear a mask. Love and peace.
